First Stop London

The first stop in this journey is London. This was the first time I’ve ever been to the U.K.. It has been somewhere I’ve always wanted to go, so I was pretty excited. The hostel I was staying at was pretty far away from the city so we had to take the tube everywhere. The first stop was the Westminster Abbey.

Also got to see Big Ben, but it was under construction so there wasn’t much to see. Pretty much saw a lot of the tourists spots.

We also went to Florence Nightingale museum which was pretty interesting. The day was pretty much just walking from place to place. Got to see the globe which was cool after talking about Shakespeare this year and having to recite one of Hamlet’s soliloquy’s. Something else was the Millennium Bridge, so the big Harry Potter nerd I am geeked out a little. I mean it was the next best thing without doing the Universal Tour or Platform nine and three quarters.

In overall we walked 10 miles! After that we were exhausted and just ready to eat and go to bed. It was definitely a long and tiring day but so much fun.

Journey to London

My journey began in the Philadelphia airport where I caught a red eye to Reykjavik Iceland. From there I connected to a flight to London which I just barely made. The second flight went much smoother than the first, there weren’t any delays or crying babies.

After a long day of flying the next part of transportation was the tube. That’s what made me the most anxious. It was absolutely crazy trying to figure out tickets and zone difference, but I got it. I took the Piccadilly line(so much fun just to say), got off at Green Park, and finally got on the Jubilee line to finally arrive at Kilburn Station. From there I was able just to walk to my hostel which was nice after such a long day of sitting. It was hard to believe that it was only noon when I finally got there and still had a whole day ahead of me. At that point I was utterly exhausted, but I caught up with my friend who I am taking this journey with and we got settled into the hostel and went out and explored. We found this cute little tavern where we stopped to get lunch. After lunch we took a walk but came back to nap in the end since we both had spent a long time getting to this point. We ended up finding this cute park where we walked around for awhile and just enjoyed the fresh air.

There was a cute little garden we walked through(I of course took a bunch of flower pictures) before heading back to the hostel by this time it was already 9pm but still so light out. After a crazy day of traveling, I have to say day one of this journey was pretty great and can’t wait to see what the rest brings.
